There was a girl named Darleen who was deeply in love with her boyfriend, Daniel. Daniel loves Darleen too very much. These two spent a lot of time together doing stuff that young lovers usually do. Everything was perfect, until Darleen's parents decided to go to the States with her. It was very hard for both Darleen and Daniel to be separated from each other. =A year isn't that long, Daniel. I promise, I'll return here...I'll return to you.= Darleen said. =I'll wait for you here Darleen. I Promise.= said Daniel. As the night falls, the two agreed that on July 10, 200* exactly a year later, they would meet again on that very same place where they said their first good byes and sealed their first kiss.

And so, the day of Darleen's departure came, all her friends were there but there was one who was missing...Daniel. Darleen was not surprised about Daniel's absence because she new that they would only have a hard time letting go of each other if Daniel came. Darleen left the country with a heart filled with sadness.

For the first few months Darleen and Daniel kept in touch through e-mail and online chat. They would also talk on the phone. Darleen was so happy because she thought that they're going to survive this kind of relationship. On the 10th month though, their communication suddenly stopped. Darleen was so worried, she was worried that Daniel had already found someone new and maybe he had fallen out of love with her. But despite of this doubts she continued to trust him.

July 10, 200*, exactly a year after they made a promise Darleen returned to their meeting place. She was expecting to see her boyfriend waiting there for her. When she reached the hill top she was surprised to see Daryl, Daniel's older brother standing beside a grave. Her heart started pounding really hard as she near the grave and was taken aback to see the ivory plate where a very heartbreaking phrase was embedded. On it was written:

=In this grave rests Daniel James Raymundo,
who promises FOREVER to his girl Darleen=

Darleen fell on her knees and cried as Daryl offered his shoulder to her. Then Daryl started to talk,

=You know what? When Daniel was still alive he was very proud of your relationship. He would always tell me that when you get back he'll already ask you to marry him. We just ignored him because we thought that he was just missing you. 5 months after you left we found out that he was sick
He has cancer Darleen, brain cancer. Daniel fought for his life, even if it causes so much pain. He never gave up. He said that he still has a promise to fulfill, but his brain surrendered he died on the 10th day of May=

Darleen was so devastated. She cried and cried and cried Daniel did keep his promise; he did wait for her on top of the hill.
